If you are looking to sell your car online with Hunting Cars, then uploading the best possible pictures of your car is vital. If your car’s profile looks amazing, then it will stand out to any Car Dealers searching the platform. A good first impression will result in more Dealer views and more bids. Your car is worth a lot of money, and we want to make sure you get the price your car deserves!
Before you do anything, you will want to make sure your car is spanking clean, on both the inside and outside. You can either do this yourself or you can take it to your local car wash. No Dealer will want to pay the top price for a car which is covered in mud on the outside and crumbs on the inside. First impressions are key!
Always do a last minute double check, to make sure your alloys have not had a last-minute splash of mud on them, or if a few streaks have appeared on the body work after drying.
Location, location, location:
Once your car is gleaming, then you will want to start considering the location… Make sure you photograph your car in front of a neutral background. You don’t want to distract potential buyers, so ensure your car is the only showpiece in the shot.
Lighting is extremely important. Taking your photos in the shadows or bright sun light can make it hard to see how your car actually looks.
Make sure you are parked in an area where you can get a good walk around the car. You should always be 5 steps back from the car, or in the frame of your camera when you are taking photos of the front, back and quarters of the car. If you are parked too close to a wall, your pictures will not be able to show the whole area.
Taking the car’s photos:
You do not need any fancy equipment to take photos of your car, a smart phone camera will be perfect.
When taking the photos, ensure the lens is at the same height as the bottom of the windscreen / windows for all exterior views of the vehicle. The camera will then be at the correct height for the car whichever the type/model.
And for the internal pictures, try to make sure that you take the photos from the same as the wing mirrors. Consistency in height for all interior and exterior shots is important!
Also try to take clear photos of any damaged areas ass these will be needed too.
We provide example placeholder images on our seller portal, to show exactly which photos we will need from you. (as seen below)
